He was decorated with a Legion D'Honnuer at the rank Officier by the president of France on December 14, 1997 for his contributions to the development of Galatasaray High School and the establishment of Galatasaray University in his capacity as the founder and president of Galatasaray Educational Foundation and the significant role he has played in the relations between Turkey and France. He founded with his wife Suna Kıraç " Suna and Inan Kıraç Mediterranean Civilizations Research Institute" and offered the facilities of this institution to the service of Antalya Mediterranean University.
