As the Koç Group was entering new fields and developing rapidly, it felt the need for an organizational structure that would meet the challenges of diversification and growth. Accordingly, Koç Holding A.Ş. was created in 1963 as the product of long years of study and effort by both local and international business management and organization specialists.

Koç Holding A.Ş. serves the Group as the decision making body in charge of identifying strategies and controlling, coordinating and providing direction to its activities. The Holding also formed a unit for long-term business planning in order to align business decisions with national development plans.

Vehbi Koç, a firm believer in the corporate spirit, handed his position as Chairman of the Board over to his son Rahmi M. Koç in 1984.

Rahmi M. Koç who acted as Chairman of the Board of Directors since 1984, handed his position on 4 April 2003 over to Mustafa V. Koç. Rahmi M. Koç is still Honorary Chairman and a member of the Board of Directors.
