Otokoç Otomotiv, founded in 1928, operates as the oldest and the most important diversified automotive company in Turkey. Otokoç Otomotiv Ticaret ve Sanayi A.Ş. was formed on 22 June 2001 by the merger of six previously independent companies within the Koç Group of Ford Dealerships. In 2005, Avis car rental (under the name, Set Oto) and the sales and service divisions of the Fiat group brands (under the name, Birmot) were consolidated under Otokoç Otomotiv. The Company represents 8.5 %of the total domestic market, selling Ford, Volvo, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, and Lancia vehicles and servicing more than 400,000 vehicles annually. Otokoç Otomotiv dominates the daily car rental business with its Avis and Budget brands, and is one of the key players in fleet leasing with more than 12,000 vehicles in service. Otokoç Otomotiv is Turkey’s leading automotive retailer and car rental company, and ranks 20th in Europe and 10th in the USA.
In August 2009, a dealership agreement was signed with Volvo. The Otokoç Taşdelen and Antalya branches have started to provide sales and service for Volvo Cars. Volvo dealerships and service centers will expand to Adana and Konya in 2010.
In the pre-owned vehicle market, Otokoç Otomotiv sold 7, 550 cars in 2009 and has been increasing its sales by means of providing attractive financing options, warranties for its pre-owned-vehicles, and an outstanding reputation for integrity. . In November 2009 the company consolidated its finance and insurance services (operating in the Otokoç and Birmot dealerships) under a sister company, Otokoç Sigorta Aracılık Hizmetleri A.Ş. With this multiple agency system, the company plans to increase efficiency and profitability in finance and insurance operations.
Otokoç Otomotiv, which distributes spare parts to 3,500 points of sale throughout Turkey, aims to improve its Wholesale Spare Parts operations with new facilities, technology, and infrastructure investments.
Otokoç and Birmot received above-average results for customer satisfaction for the sales and service provided by Ford and Tofaş. As a result of the overwhelming customer satisfaction ratings for the quality of its sales and service, Ford Europe awarded Otokoç Ataşehir and Antalya with its prestigious Chairman’s Award in 2009. As a leading car rental company, Avis has retained its first place in customer satisfaction rankings among EAMEA (Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia) countries for 4 years. Avis also received an award in the “Rent a Car” category, introduced for the first time under “Transportation in Tourism Awards” within “SKALİTE 2009 Quality Awards in Tourism”.
Budget Turkey received the “Marketing Award” at the 2009 Annual Licensee Meeting in Rome for its long and successful partnership with Pegasus Airlines, their high performance with the Fly&Drive business, and other successful marketing projects.
