AES Entek, Koç Group's electricity generation company operates two natural gas fueled plants with a combined capacity of 302 MWe as well as gas turbine-based cogeneration facilities in Istanbul, Kocaeli and Bursa. Turkey's private sector share in electricity production is 25% of which approximately 1/3 belongs to small-scale “auto-producer” plants. Entek has a 5% share in the private sector, putting it in 6th place among private sector electricity producers.

 

The Company’s net sales for 2009 were 378 million TL, with EBITDA of 50.7 million TL. Net income totaled 39 million TL.

 

The Company's investment in a high efficiency cooling system was completed in 2009 and has started to generate revenue. In addition, investment in a LM6000 gas turbine that would utilize the idle capacity of the steam turbine at the Kocaeli facility was completed and brought online in August, 2009.

 

Entek plans to focus long term on investing in new facilities to increase the capacity and profitability. Entek will also closely follow privatization opportunities with a view to acquire companies having strong growth potential, new technological developments, and potential partnerships. Entek's priority in 2010 will be profit maximization by optimum utilization of its production flexibility.
