Mogaz, one of the Koç Group’s two LPG companies along with Aygaz, is Turkey’s 4th largest cylinder, 3rd largest bulk and 8th largest autogas distribution company. Mogaz’s annual sales in the total LPG sector comprising 63 companies are approximately 200 thousand tons. In 2009, Mogaz maintained its strong market position with its new distributors and extensive direct sale activities.

Mogaz Petrol Gazları A.Ş. was founded in 1963 by the partnership of Mobil Oil T.A.Ş. and the Koç Group, and is one of Turkey’s first LPG distribution companies. The partnership used the Mobilgaz brand name and was called Mobil Petrol Gazları A.Ş. until 1993. It then became wholly owned by the Koç Group and continued its commercial activities as Mogaz Petrol Gazları A.Ş.

Mogaz strengthened its market position even further in 2003 by acquiring Lipet Likit Petrol Gazı ve Yakıt A.Ş. The company continues its sale and distribution activities in the cylinder, autogas, bulk and odorless gas segments under the Mogaz and Lipetgaz brand names.

Mogaz is the first Turkish company to distribute LPG directly to subscribers through its direct sales system. In 1989 Mogaz started to manufacture odorless LPG, and continues to manufacture and distribute this product. Odorless LPG is an important alternative to chlorofluorocarbons that were banned due to their harmful impact on the ozone layer.  Chlorofluorocarbons were also extensively used as a propellant for deodorants, room sprays, pesticides, etc. in the aerosol industry.

Mogaz was ranked in 86th place in 2008 in the Istanbul Chamber of Industry’s list of Turkey’s top 500 industrial companies. Mogaz continues its direct sales activities in 10 cities, as well as its sales and distribution activities with a total of 1286 distributors 798 of which are for cylinder and 488 for autogas.
