Leading shipyard

RMK Marine, is one of the largest and leading shipyards in the Turkish Shipbuilding Industry. Through constant attention to innovation and investments in its facilities it aims to increase productivity and quality in line with customers requirements.

 

Following integration into the Koç Holding Group of Companies in 1997, the company has enlarged its business volume both in domestic and international arenas with turn-key business solutions. RMK Marine is a key builder in the field of small and medium-sized vessels, providing a wide range of ship types including, naval vessels, tankers, tug boats, offshore vessels and superyachts of the very highest quality.

 

RMK Marine was included for the first time in the “Top 500 Industrial Enterprises in Turkey- 2008 Report” issued by the Istanbul Chamber of Industry and are ranked 351st place.

 

Progress with naval projects

RMK Marine has maintained a strong presence in naval ship projects and has been awarded a contract to build 4 Search and Rescue Vessels for the Turkish Coast Guard. It is the first private shipyard in Turkey to be awarded such a contract. RMK Marine, through its investment in developing its technological infrastructure and human resources, is equipped to provide the best service to the Ministry of National Defense. The first Coast Guard Search & Rescue Ship TCSG Dost was launched at a ceremony on 9th of June 2010. It is scheduled to deliver the first Coast Guard Search & Rescue Ship in 2011 while the others are planned for delivery in 2012. The ships, apart from their conventional tasks of smuggling prevention, will also provide fire fighting and environmental pollution prevention services.

 

Exceptional turn key projects

RMK Marine has also made significant progress with the offshore service vessel sector. In 2008 RMK Marine started build on a Multi-Purpose Offshore Construction vessel.  She was launched and delivered in 2009. This ship is the largest offshore vessel ever built in Turkey and also one of the the largest of its kind in the world.

RMK Marine built and delivered four tugboats and one mooring vessel in 2008 which are capable of providing port services to 60,000 DWT ships. RMK Marine also launched tankers T. Sevgi and T. Gönül, built for Tüpraş. T. Sevgi was delivered to Tüpraş in 2008 and T. Gönül, the sister ship, was delivered in 2009.

 

Superyacht building excellence

RMK Marine has worked to improve its facilities to be able to offer full construction, refit and repair to yachts and ships. This will ensure that RMK Marine is set to become a key builder in the Super Yacht sector. Launched in late 20009 was a 52m aluminium ketch, Nazenin V, designed by Sparkman & Stephens. The interior design of the yacht was completed by well known designers  Redman  Whiteley Dixon Ltd. The yacht was built in one of RMK Marine’s environmentally controlled workshops. 

 

Nazenin V has been honoured with the Judges Special Commendation prize at the prestigious World Superyacht Awards 2010. Reaching the finalist stage was a great achievement for both the Nazenin V and RMK Marine. With 90 entries and just 53 as finalists within the different categories, Nazenin V was one of 5 finalists in the category for Best Sailing Yacht 45m+.

 

Currently under construction at RMK Marine is a new 45m Motor Yacht project. The superstructure is complete and the internal fit out is underway.  The design by and the build began in the summer of 2008 and it is the first Motor Yacht built at RMK Yachts over 40m in length.

 

On 10 July 2007 Oyster Marine and RMK Marine signed an agreement to produce Oyster 100 and 125ft yachts designed by Dubois. RMK Marine became the first shipyard to build Oyster super yachts. The first yacht is due for delivery later in 2010. 

 

Infrastructure:

RMK Marine has a continued programme of investment in its facilities. The most recent developments have been: The composite construction facility which is 80m long, 40m wide and 18m high and houses a 40 metre long oven which is the one of the largest of its type, administrative headquarters building, the 700 tonne yacht launch slipway, and the closed product area for military ship construction.
